In the 100+ years that Moon Monument Co. has been in business there have been several questions and concerns that have come up from time to time. We will try to provide answers to some of these here.
How long should I wait before placing a memorial in the cemetery?
Most of the time, when a grave is dug, the area in which the memorial will be set is undisturbed ground in the row with the other monuments. This means that there is no specific waiting period for placing a memorial. However, sometimes graves are not dug properly (meaning the grave might have been dug too far back) either by error or circumstance. In this case it is best to wait until the ground has settled a bit.
What causes a memorial to lean?
In our experience the most common cause of a memorial leaning is the degradation of the concrete foundation caused by fire ant nests. In other cases it is simply the fact that the memorial was placed, in part or fully, on top of a grave.
How long does it take for my memorial to be delivered once ordered?
From the time the order is placed it will take approximately 6-8 weeks before your memorial is set in the cemetery. Sometimes it could take longer depending on circumstance and/or the availability of stock.
If I order my memorial before me or my spouse pass away, are the decease dates included in the price of the original purchase?
If you or a family member purchased a memorial from us prior to 1979 then there is a good chance that the decease dates were pre-paid as well. After 1979 we stopped accepting pre-payment for decease dates.
Can the paint in a memorial be restored?
While Moon Monument Company does not offer this as a service, we do provide the details as to how paint can be restored here.
